Non-Collateral or Unsecured Education Loan

  • Non-collateral education loans, also known as unsecured loans, do not require borrowers to pledge any property or fixed deposit as collateral.
  • These loans are granted based on the borrower’s creditworthiness, academic performance, and test scores (like GRE, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, etc).
  • The financial background of the co-applicant (usually a parent or guardian) is also considered.
  • Since there is no collateral involved, interest rates on non-collateral education loans may be higher compared to collateral loans.
  • Lenders evaluate various factors, including the student’s academic profile, test scores, and the co-applicant’s financial stability, to assess the borrower’s ability to repay the loan.

Collateral or Secured Education Loan

  • This type of loan requires the borrower to pledge collateral, such as property, fixed deposits, or other valuable assets, to secure the education loan.
  • Collateral provides security to the lender, reducing the risk associated with lending money.
  • Generally, collateral education loans offer lower interest rates compared to non-collateral loans due to the reduced risk for the lender.
  • Borrowers need to carefully consider their ability to repay the loan and the potential consequences of defaulting on payments, as failure to repay could result in the loss of pledged collateral.

Seamless Education Loan Support for NRI Applicants and Co-Applicants

Study On Loan really came through for us when we needed it most. My wife and I were struggling to secure an education loan while living in the UK, especially since we were both abroad and faced multiple rejections from Indian banks. But their team stepped in, got our application re-evaluated by different banks, and helped us secure the loan. The process of arranging Power of Attorneys (PoAs) was another headache, but they made it easy and walked us through every step. Thanks to them, my wife completed her MSc in International Marketing, and we're now happily settled in the UK. If you're an NRI in need of education loan support, I can't recommend Study On Loan enough!

— Dilbag Singh, Wolverhampton, UK.
